Up Memories Reunited

We went to Kenya for a 2 week holiday in the summer of 2008. It was a really fantastic experience from start to finish thanks to Tribes who put together the whole package.

We organised the holiday way back in November '07 and when the political unrest happened in January remained confident that Kenya would be back to normal by July. This turned out to be the case but we found that the places we visited were nearly all empty having had many cancellations in the spring - this meant we had exclusive use of the facilities and the devoted attention of the staff !!

Hopefully these pictures give you a feel for how superb the holiday was.

Borana Lodge is built on the side of a hill overlooking a lake. There are 8 cottages that are designed to be self-contained and private and it's got a beautiful horizon swimming pool.
The brochures are right when they say it's luxurious.

Koija Starbeds

Koija Starbeds are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Built on a raised wooden platform over looking a river partially covered by a thatch roof.
The beds are built on car wheels. When we went to bed there was light rain so we parked under cover. Later I woke up and pushed the beds out onto the veranda to see the brightest array of stars.
We got to Koija on horseback through the Loisaba wildernesse.
The next morning we were collected at 5:30 for the adventure of a Balloon Safari.

Diani House is a beautiful oasis sitiated at the quiet south end of Diani Beach near Mombasa.

We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves for 6 nights - it was paradise! With 250 feet of private beach, the children fell in love with the manager's dog DooDoo (insect in Swahili).
